Flooding and Drainage
Flood Risk / Consequence Assessments
Our services include assessment of flood risk to a proposed development site for all types of development including residential, employment, commercial, leisure, retail and mixed land use proposals. This typically investigates flood risk from all potential sources, including, but not limited to rivers and seas, surface water, groundwater and sewers. Following the assessment, pertinent mitigation can be put forward as part of a drainage strategy. These assessments are prepared in conjunction with the other professional members of the project team.

Preliminary Drainage Design
(Drainage Strategy)

We offer preliminary design of surface and foul drainage, often included with a FRA or FCA, though sometimes required as a standalone document for planning. The design will involve a strategy; identifying potential Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) which may be used, and a preliminary model for the drainage system(s) using industry standard software with earthworks modelling where required for SuDS features.

Detailed Drainage Design

Following a successful application, CDA can progress the preliminary drainage designs to full detailed design up to Technical Approval. This includes drainage adoptable by water authorities via Section 104 Agreements and by local authorities via Section 38 Agreements. Drainage is designed in accordance with Sewers for Adoption.
Throughout the detailed design process, CDA will liaise with the Local Authority Drainage Team or the Water Authority to facilitate a design that best suits the client and meets the adopting body’s requirements.
